For our collectors
Thierry Debas is driven by a genuine passion. He cannot give enough praise to his 1996 vintage Cuvée Saphir presented in an original glass container. Everything in this wine deserves extra special attention, starting with its name, “Saphir (sapphire in French).
As a mineralogy enthusiast, whilst conducting research using an old dictionary, Thierry Debas discovered the definition of the word sapphire, or rather “sappir” in Hebrew, meaning “the most beautiful thing”… The name of the firm’s prestige wine had been found.
To welcome this rare vintage, a real gem of the Champagne region, an equally exceptional receptacle was required, such as this special bottle reminiscent of an upside down tulip glass and adorned with the majestic family coat of arms on the neck… A rare vessel for a unique wine with many facets.
Time should be taken to taste this Cuvée Saphir alone or for an intimate moment, such is its complexity. Powerful and refined, at the table alongside a sophisticated fish dish (sea bass in Champagne), a joint of roast beef, Comté cheese or apple tart, Cuvée Saphir will unveil its full panoply of aromas.
You may have already seen on some collectors' websites cork wires bearing the name of Champagne Debas Comin. Such cork wires only leave my house on bottles. There is approximately one cork wire every twelve bottles of all my Champagnes. I do not sell them separately, nor do I exchange or give them. Only the beige model was agreed by myself. All other cork wires available in other colours were made without my authorization.
On the same websites, you may also have seen another creation: a cork structure trimmed with Swarovski strass.
